Unrealistic Expectations!

And why shouldn’t our expectations be unrealistic?

Other than getting in trouble with my wife for beginning this post with “And” I might get some flack for pushing my high standards onto others… yet again! It’s not just a matter of high standards though. To everyone that says I should quit trying to change the world and the way people think, I say  “I challenge thee and thy small minded thinking” and go so far as to pose this one simple question:

What did being realistic ever accomplish?

The answer is simple… NOTHING!

Think about it; it’s unrealistic to think that by flipping a switch we release the flow of electrons through a filament and are able to produce light, or that someone could bend a piece of metal and ferry people great distances through the air, or that 2 people thousands of miles apart are able communicate vocally and visually through the ether in a matter of seconds on a device that can not only fit in the palm of your hand but can execute some rather amazing computations faster than the human brain can process. A mere 20, 50, 100, 200 years ago all this would have seemed like utter madness, crazy talk and possibly Voodoo!

More surprising than all of this that our entire manufactured world (with all it’s geniuses and wonders) was and is built by people no smarter than you or me. Those who shape the world we live in are in-fact unrealistic people and if we are to live in this world and raise our children in it then why not have an influence over the outcome?

I say throw “be realistic” out the flippen window and start dreaming, creating & living life rather than simply existing. Have unrealistic expectations, and you might just change your life and ours forever!
