Episode 13 – My Personal Night Prayer (Non Latin)

Salvete,

Thank you so much for all your prayers and patience. My wife and I are now parents to 3 boys. Benedict is now 2 months old, Baptized, healthy and strong and so is my wife. His brothers are thrilled! We are truly blessed. This has been the main reason for my hiatus. I am back and have been looking forward to pick up from where we left off in publishing. To follow suit with my last post, here is my personal Night Prayer & Examen; Like the my morning offering it is not in Latin but I do hope to translate it one day and learn it. I composed it by taking bits and peices of other prayers that I love and compliing them to suit those things that weigh upon my heart.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recorded and will be next to be uploaded to be followed by Chaplet of St. Michael.

I hope this Night Prayer inspires you to write your own and if not, feel free to pray along with me and know that if you are listening to this podcast, that I’m praying for you daily. Please pray for me and my family also.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of my Lord Jesus Christ, with all Its Love, all its sufferings, and all its merits:

TO EXPIATE all the sins I have committed this day, and during all my life. GB.

TO PURIFY the good I have done poorly this day, and during all my life. GB.

TO SUPPLY for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and during all my life GB.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.

Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and with every beat of our hearts we consecrate ourselves, to your most Sacred Heart O Jesus, that with every breath of our bodies may we breathe in Christ and breathe out sin and all its effects on and in our lives; O Woman of Genesis, crush the head of satan this night, in our hearts, in our flesh and in our home; grant we implore thee Queen of Angels, to bless our home with the powerful presence of thy Holy Angels that they may protect us, guard this space and assist us in receiving the infinite graces of the most Sacred Heart of Jesus through your immaculate hands.

May the infinite graces we receive into our souls transmit Christ’s life into to our bodies that even while we sleep, we may overcome our defects in this life and grow in holiness to become saints. Knowing that I have received rights over my family, by the promulgation of the Divine and Natural Law by the Divine Author, O Blessed Mother through you I now ask Jesus my Lord and my God to Bless and renew my wife and children; strengthen them O Lord that they may grow in holiness and may all that I have asked for this night through the intercession of our Patron Saints, be applied to them. May it also be applied to my extended family, relatives, friends and enemies, particularly those who have requested my prayers. O Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary pray for us. O Terror of demons St. Joseph, pray for us. Most Holy Guardian Angels, to whose care & protection our family is entrusted, pray for us. Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Rafael, all you Hosts of Heaven & Saints, intercessors on who we desperately rely to make up for whatever is lacking in our prayer this night, pray for us.

Amen

A BIG thank you for your patience. Continuing with the Holy Rosary prayers, I decided to include the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Click the Play button above to pray/learn this prayer. The words are below in both Latin and in English.

Sáncte Míchael Archángele, defénde nos in proélio, cóntra nequítiam et insídias diáboli ésto præsídium. Ímperet ílli Déus, súpplices deprecámur: tuque, prínceps milítiæ cæléstis, Sátanam aliósque spíritus malígnos, qui ad perditiónem animárum pervagántur in múndo, divína virtúte, in inférnum detrúde. Ámen.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.  Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. Offering My Joy

owdcctpayd8-jan-tielens.jpg

There’s a scarf made of itchy wool that was made for me with love by my wife’s nona, and this scarf accompanies me most days as a form of mortification. I love wearing it! It causes me discomfort but I love the fact that secretly (or not so secretly now) I get to offer my sufferings to our Lord.

I fast 5 days a week from carbs, coffee and anything with sugar particularly as a form of mortification that I can offer up to our Lord. The health benefits are a bonus.

When I remember, the last 30 seconds of my morning shower I turn cold for the same reason I stated above – to offer my sufferings and mortifications to our Lord.

As a side note, the biggest business benefit that all these self induced sufferings can offer are that if by sheer will you can handle these difficulties, then no matter what your day throws at you, you’re going to be fine. Not only fine but you’ll CRUSH your mediocrity causing oppositions!

Reflecting this past Sunday, as I was sipping my cup of french pressed coffee with milk and sugar (Saturdays and Sundays are Cheat Days) – I let out a sigh, simply resting and relaxing in the good. And a horrible thought occurred to me. I had offered my sufferings and mortifications to our Lord but not consciously offered Him my joys! Why ever would I not want to do so.

And so even though I pray the prayer below every morning, from now on I will consciously give away all my joys for Him who loves me and you beyond all comprehension! Pray with me and for me.

God love you!

Oh my Jesus, I give Thee thanks for having preserved my family and me this past night. May all my thoughts, words and deeds be pleasing to Thee this day. I wish to gain all the merits and indulgences attached to them and I offer them in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass celebrated upon all of the altars throughout the world this day; joining with it all my prayers, works, joys, sufferings and mortifications to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that she may best apply them in the interests of Thy Sacred Heart.

Amen!

The Appropriate Response

What on earth (or in heaven for that matter) do we do with those who disagree with our point of view?

VenSheenEnemies

The answer is simple; pray for them. That does not equal backing down or disengaging in healthy (or even polemic) discussion but regardless of differing opinions on politics and religion, still we MUST pray for them.

Our Blessed Mother, various Saints and theologians have spoken at length describing that the status quo is far worse than it was before and that things unless we change and pray unceasingly for others, will become worse; Worse being that the greatest damage that will be done to the Roman Catholic Church – the Bride of Christ & One True Faith – will not come from outside the Church but from within. Wolves in sheep’s clothing our Blessed Lord warned. It would seem that these days are upon us.

The Church stood against the Roman Persecutions, the Heretics and their Heresies, the Barbarians, the Vikings, the Muslims, the Orthodox split, the Protestant Revolt (for it failed to reform anything really) and its 33,000 fractures, the SSPX and Sedevacantists… and now un-catechised “Catholics” who because of Baptism would claim to know better than 2000 years of traditional and doctrinal teaching pushing modernist agendas to “help” the Roman Catholic Church keep up with the times.

Although this form of persecution may be new for us, it really is a 2000 year old story, and it began back in that garden when a Bishop betrayed our Lord to the authorities and then hung himself, and 10 other Bishops deserted Him, one of them – the closest to our Lord – cursed and swore he didn’t know the man. Yes a young St. John was the only Bishop brave enough (some called him foolish) to accompany our Blessed Lord to Calvary.

What then do we do with dissenting and disobedient Bishops within who silently or publicly go against the doctrinal teachings and disciplines of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church? People, in traditional people fashion, rather than look for a solution add to the problem and eagerly seek to find fault and lay blame on a person; the Pope is an easy target and further still the wrong target. This is Satan’s work and the Pope is the Vicar of Christ.

We take our example from our Lord. First His promise to St. Peter, and then at the Last Supper His advice to St. Peter.

Matt 16: 17-19
17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter,b and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hadesc will not overcome it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will bed bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will bee loosed in heaven.”

Luke 22: 31-32
31“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Both these passages show us our Blessed Lord’s confidence in a man whose name He changed – every time God changes a name it means that person is bound up with Christ in His plan for salvation – a man whose faults we see clearly in him but fail to recognize in ourselves. The One True Church (not Churches) is established by Christ upon this imperfect, sinful man and our Blessed Lord promised that not even Hell with all it’s power would overcome it.

How Great a gift that the office of St. Peter is divinely protected by Christ Himself and the Holy Spirit. So out of imitation and obedience to our Blessed Lord, we do not despair but have faith in that imperfect, sinful man dressed in white who is the successor of St. Peter who received the keys to the kingdom. Either our Lord God who is all knowing, omnipotent and knew the future, simply had foresight amnesia of this time period OR He is not God because He is a liar.

In like manner we MUST pray for the successor of St. Peter the Pope in imitation of our Lord and trust he (The Pope) will strengthen his brother Bishops.

Pray for the Bishops, Priests and Religious also. Pray your rosary daily and in this month of November, pray for the pour souls in Purgatory (I encourage you to research St. Gertrude who prayed for them beautifully)

God Love You!

A Thing of Beauty

In a fallen world there will always be problems. When things go south, limited thinking and unhindered inaction breeds like a bacterial infection. We make lists of problems and all we want to is to be justified; for someone to hear our side of the story, someone to understand. The first problem on the list is sufficient to stall us indefinitely. Why bother coming up with problem 2, 3 and so on? Are we that trained to immediately come up with all the opposition against ourselves? So few of us rise to combat our fallen nature and our imperfect self.

Sometimes we look to our peers and leaders who should know and do better than us, and we are left disappointed for they themselves chicken out for fear of the repercussions of waging war.

Ugly exists in this world and I shouldn’t be contributing to it nor dwelling on its depressing and often unhelpful worldly lens. Something MUST be done; It needs to be fought by men and women of courage holding high the banner of Beauty!

O Beauty! Where did you go?

The most beautiful things in life are often the hardest to look at.

The Family is Beautiful and we must be willing to die to protect our [marriages, our children, siblings, parents, grandparents and out of obedience to our Blessed Lord, our neighbour.]

Show me stories of self sacrifice and I’ll show you beautiful. Show me suffering for the sake of another and I’ll show you beautiful.

So let us die for [them] and really live, rather than exist in this life only concerned about ourselves and our problems.

God Love You!

The Battle For Family

StMichael10There is an ancient evil at work that never rests or tires. Our downfall is this evil’s aim and its victory is gained by our eternal damnation. Our damnation is very easily achieved; die without sanctifying grace in our soul; die in the state of mortal sin. This must be fought at all costs. Men are called to fight this fight and the path to victory for men is singular and that is to die while fighting it. We [men] are born for battle, to guard and protect what is sacred and entrusted to our care; it is sacred because that which is entrusted to us does not belong to us but rather to God. We are simply the guardians and protectors of the beautiful. The battleground is the Family. Our weapons? Prayer and Sacrifice.

Matt. 22:37-40 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

The enemy’s first target is us (men). Alongside lack of preparation for battle, we are assaulted in the areas of pride, sloth and lust. First we think ourselves able to succeed in anything and everything apart from God on our own strength and intelligence, then to disengage our heart, soul and mind from all that is good, true and beautiful, and finally love only ourselves by using our neighbour as an object to satisfy and gratify the lower faculties.

And what happens when we start to love ourselves more than our neighbour? Can the soldier in the army help win the battle if he is only concerned about his own wellbeing? Surely not. But far too many men, husbands and fathers alike sacrifice their families for their own safety and the safety of their hopes and dreams rather than sacrificing themselves and their future greatness for their bride and children.

After attacking the head of the family, the enemy goes after our bride and children to subvert and undermine the authority that God placed over the head of the family; and our bride and children may be attacked violently; we can also see this parallel on a much larger scale as the Bride of Christ the Church has been attacked and tempted starting with Eve, to undermine Adam. But how did the NEW Adam deal with His Bride who fell prey to the enemy? Jeremiah Chapter 3 tells us that we [Christ’s Bride] have committed adultery but Christ still wishes to be united to us if we but turn again to Him he takes us back. Still HE had to win us back and did so by dying for us. In our family life we are called to do what He did.

No we do not get to take a break – show me when hell takes a day off and I’ll show you when you can take a day off.

When our will is aligned with God’s will, we have found the narrow gate. When our will CROSSES God’s will, He says to us “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his CROSS and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matt. 16: 24-25.

God Love You!

The Meaning of Life is simple…

TO BECOME A SAINT!!!

One could say to become Christ-like which is another way of saying becoming the best you.

My motto (or daily mantra) the last few years has been consistent.

“To become the best version of myself”

The reason I think I’ve adopted this kind of thinking is because I truly believe that there is nothing else more important in life. Who we are impacts absolutely everything around us. Our attitude toward our circumstances and situations either propel us or stagnate us. This is even more crucial with regards to our relationships!

We owe it to ourselves and those around us to be the best that we can, and to challenge them to become better be it our children, our parents, friends and yes even strangers. Only then can we really say that we are on track to leave this world a better place than when we arrived.

It gives me goosebumps to imagine a world where everyone was focused and driven to become the best that they can be.
Blessings!
